3 Artists & Designers

~ David Carson, my first designer of choice, is a contemporary style Graphic Designer who 'revolutionized' the unconventional design scene with his 90's grunge style work. While he does other commercial work that entails more simplicity, I am personally most intrigued by the grunge, collage looking, bold magazine covers and other work. Carson was the founding art director for Ray Gun Magazine in the 90's, which is where most of his technique bloomed.

“Just because something is legible doesn’t mean it communicates and something difficult to read may be very easily communicated. Both legibility and communication are of equal importance.” - David Carson

~ Mike Perry, the creator I chose as my second artist of choice, works as an American artist, illustrator, designer, curator, animator, sculptor, the list goes on and on. Perry has done product design, murals, animations, illustrations for books, won an Emmy for Outstanding Motion Design, and taught at multiple universities for the arts. He has a psychedelic, 'soul-soaring' feeling in his work through dreamscapes and patterns. I admire the playful and chaotic yet distinctive style Perry communicates in any variation of his work.

~ Janine Heinrich, my third and final designer is a modern day social media famous designer. Janine got her start on TikTok in 2020 as she decided to design 1 poster a day for a year to combat the lack of work she was able to find during the pandemic. She has no degree in Graphic Arts and had little experience at the time, yet made daily graphics she posted online simply to get better at what she wanted to do. In this process her social media blew up gaining her thousands of followers and potential clients. Heinrich uses similar grunge style typography to above David Carson and play's with collaging images and bold statements, while keeping up with design trends.
